| The last part of our trip landed us in Guangzhou at the White Swan
Hotel. Although there are several American Embassies in China, the one in Guangzhou is the
only one that handles immigration. Thus, all the babies and their adoptive families end up
in this city. There must have been a hundred babies in this hotel alone. Everything is
close...the embassy is just down the block, the hospital for the final physical exams is
just a few blocks around the corner and we are surrounded by shopping and
restaurants catering to adoptive families. Cantonese is spoken here so the few words of
Mandarin we learned in Changsha are "out da window". Once again, CCAI hooks us
up with great guides who help us through every step. It was like dessert...
"CHECK PLEASE" ...we're ready to go home! Lilyana...soon you'll get to see your own room in your own house! |
